The background of this castle is a very sad story about Julia Hasdeu, the daughter of B.P. Hasdeu, a Romanian historian, writter and journalist.
Julia Hasdeu was a beautiful, smart and extremelly talented girl. At the age of 4 she was already reading and writting, at 7 she was writting poetry, at 11 gratuated the Conservatory (piano) and at the same time was a brilliant student (best in her class) at Sevigne College in Paris. After enterring the Sorbonne Faculty of Letters and Philisophy, she already planned to finish her doctorate by the age of 20. However, this was a dream that never came true. She died at age 18 of tuberculosis.
In great pain, her father, B.P. Hasdeu, built the Julia Hasdeu Palace, which is a combination between a castle and a temple. It is said that the ghost of his deceased daughter inspired him on how to build this palace.
The castles has two towers on the sides, one for Julia, his daughter and one for another Julia, his wife, who he also loved deeply. In the middle, there is a larger space that B.P.Hasdeu used for spiritualistic experiments.
Great sorrow took over B.P. Hasdeu since the death of his daughter so, unwilling to accept the fact that he can never meet her again, he became more and more attracted by the world of the spirits, obsessing over finding ways to communicate with the ded. A great part of his studies are dedicated to communication with spirits.
