The ENESCU Festival (August 30 - September 26)
No festival in Romania or in the world brings out more the cultural traditions of these lands than the George Enescu Festival. That is why the "George Enescu" International Music Festival and Competition is considered to be the most important cultural event in Romania and one of the most important in Europe. As written in The Guardian (British newspaper), "The mighty Salzburg Festival now has a rival", or in the Austrian Observer, "The Salzburg Festival could only dream of such a first rank concert list", the Enescu Festival gains more and more recognition worldwide.
The festival is held once in two years and you should go see it at least once in your life (the truth is, if you go once you'll probably go again).
