The promised land of milk and honey...

The Promised Land of milk and honey is, no doubt about it, Romania. Everywhere you go on this Earth and try to buy honey, the most expensive, the most tasty and the purest of all, are those produced in Romania.

To understand why, you have to take a look at Romania, to see its vast areas untouched by civilization, its virgin grasslands not used for agriculture, the agriculture itself, still underdeveloped that poses no harm to bees and beehives.

Did you think is just by coincidence the famous Yamada Bee Farm of Japan has a Romanian translated Home Page? Nope. The Honey world speaks Romanian! How about the bees, we wonder.

So, how much do you know about honey? Let us just give you a list of what kind honey you can taste in Romania so you can asses more actively your knowledge about it: Coriander honey, Buckthorn honey, Sunflower honey, Peppermint honey, Heather honey, Lavander honey, Mint honey, Hawthorn honey, Pine honey, Rape honey, Rosette honey, Acacia honey, Willow honey, Linden honey, Clover honey, Maple honey, Fireweed honey, Manna honey, Spruce fir and fir honey, and we could go on...

How about that? The interesting thing about buying honey in Romania is that you can taste dozens of it in order to buy just one, but you have to go for this feast to a market place where real producers are offering their honey. If you are not keen to taste it or have a calorie problem, go to a supermarket. What honey sells there if it's made in Romania is as good as the one of the market place.

But the thing is, the best way to get to know real honey is to stop your car right where you see beehives and talk to the producers. Offer them a bottle of water - it's what they treasure most in the summer heat - and they'll offer you honey and stories about honey.
