Did you know? The oldest writings in the world were ... in Romanian?

Well, not exactly in Romanian language, but certainly found on Romanian territory.

Jeopardy. 10,000 USD question:

"Ideology used by Romanian communists to show that Romania is the greatest nations of all"... "What is protocronism?"

Sounds familiar? Well, it is true that Romanians did not invent the spoon and did not put the apples in trees as claimed by Ceausescu, but it's becoming academically harder to disagree with their claims that the oldest writing in the world was was discovered in Romania. Not in the Middle East. In Romania!

Prof. Ionita discovered at Farcasa, Neamt county, about 120 tablets almost similar in size and shape with the Sumerian tablets, but covered with some other kind of writing. Checked with Carbon 14, they proved to be 1000 years to 2000 years OLDER than the oldest Sumerian tablets(!). Wow!

Prof. Ionita is writing on his discovery hoping that his finding will change all history books around the world. Better stay tuned to this if you want to be updated with "Did you know?" stuff. You never know what you might find here. Ceao until next time.

Take care! (Romania-Eye team)
