Drinking water & public toilets

Drinking water

As a rule water in Romania is safe to drink (except for the buildings with plumming problems, which by the way, are quite many). However Romanians seem to prefer bottled water available... everywhere. The bottled water in Romania tastes good and it is cheap. We also recommend you to try the mineral sparkling waters. They're refreshing, taste good and cost little.

Public toilets

As for public toilets, avoid them at all costs, they are filthy and cost money. We recommend bars, restaurants or gasoline stations who are required by law to be equipped with toilets. Especially when out of the cities and travelling by car, it is good to know that almost every gasoline station has a toilet free to use. Surprisingly some gasoline stations are equiped with free to use showers (?!).
