Domeniile Sahateni is a divine place where passionate people make divine wine.
Romania-Eye team paid a visit to this winery in June, 2009 and here is their story about the place:
"We left early in the morning from the grey Bucharest hoping to find what we were looking for: a winery we can recommend to foreign tourists without beign affraid that they might get dissapointed of what they would find if going there. Our target: Domeniile Sahateni, a winery built and managed by the famous Aurelia Visinescu, the one who made the Feteasca Neagra variety as famous as it is today.
I shall not describe to you all the details of our visit. I will only tell you this: we found there more than we could wish for. We found an excellent scenery and extraordinary wines made by Ms. Visinescu herself, a very beautiful and charismatic person. And the most impressive was the passion for the wine we felt there like nowhere else. As soon as this winery is ready to enter the touristic circuit (a nice pension is about to be constructed there) we will recommend it to you as one of the best places in Romania to visit. In the meantime we recommend you to try the wines from Domeniile Sahateni. You can find here a list of shops selling Romanian wines in your country.
The Domeniile Sahateni is situated in Buzau County, just before entering Sahateni Village on the right side of the main road coming from Bucharest. You can see the map for Domeniile Sahateni here.
