If you hate the hotels and civilization but still do not dare to spend a night on the beach in a tent – like Vama Veche goers do– 2 Mai village is the answer to the question "where to stay?"
Since the 50’s and 60’s Romanian artists gathered there during summer to create, in an attempt to keep alive a tradition established by Queen Mary at Balcic, in a time Romania was still a monarchy and Balcic a Romanian city. So, what is 2 Mai? It is a village where the locals are renting rooms to tourists. A room offers more privacy than a tent on the beach and for a modicum fee you can enjoy 3 home made meals per day.
Why to go?
To meet interesting people, Romanian intellectuals, that you usually do not have the chance to meet and see only on TV. If you choose 2 Mai all the problems related with the Romanian tourism – poor services and high prices – will become obsolete.
When to go?
The best period to go is between July 1st and September 15th.
How to get there?
From Constanta or all other major resorts take a micro bus to 2 Mai.
